Renowned technology billionaires Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have recently agreed to participate in a highly anticipated cage match.
The announcement came after Musk took to Twitter, expressing his willingness to engage in a cage fight with Zuckerberg.
In response, Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, shared a screenshot of Musk’s tweet and replied, “send me location.”
A Meta spokesperson simply stated, “The story speaks for itself,” when asked for further comments by the BBC.
Musk then suggested the venue for the fight, tweeting, “Vegas Octagon,” referring to the arena used for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bouts in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In a light-hearted manner, Musk shared tweets about his “Walrus” move, hinting that his challenge to Zuckerberg might not be entirely serious, accompanied by videos of walruses.
While Musk, who will turn 52 later this month, humorously mentioned his lack of regular workouts, except for lifting and playing with his kids, Zuckerberg, aged 39, has been training in mixed martial arts (MMA) and recently achieved success in jiu-jitsu tournaments.
Twitter declined to provide a statement when approached by the BBC for comment.
The online exchanges between the two tech moguls quickly went viral, with social media users engaging in debates about the potential outcome of the fight and sharing humorous memes and fight posters.
Nick Peet, a broadcaster and fight sports journalist, speculated that Dana White, the president of UFC, would be eager to organize the match. Peet believed that Musk’s personality and eccentric character made it plausible, as Musk’s career history suggests he doesn’t back down easily.
When asked to predict the victor, Peet leaned towards Zuckerberg, citing his age advantage, height, and weight. However, he acknowledged that Musk’s lack of training could make it easy for Zuckerberg to overpower him with Brazilian jiu-jitsu techniques.
